"Smith, Thomas* SMITH, Thomas ""Running Bear"" 71, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006. A Native American Cherokee, Mr. Tom Smith was born on February 14, 1935 in Tahlequah, OK. Mr. Smith was an active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Bonita Springs, FL. Mr. Tom Smith also served as the Past-Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, Bonita Springs, FL. Council. He also served as the Past-Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator for the Knights of Columbus, Toledo, OH. Council. Mr. Torn Smith was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Tom Smith Industries, Englewood, OH. He had previously served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force as an RF1O1 Pilot and was awarded the ""Air Medal for Distinguished Service."" He had received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, PA; a B.S. in Business Administration from University of Akron, OH and his M.B.A. from Tuck Business School, Hanover, NH. Mr. Smith was also involved in many community and civic organizations which included: the Board of Directors of the National Minority Supplier Development Council; the Board of Directors for the Dayton Regional Minority Supplier Development Council; the Independent Business Council of Dayton, OH; the St. Joseph's Indian School Advisory Board; the Montgomery County Advisory Board for Women & Minority Business; the National Minority Supplier Development council; the Board of Directors of Native American Business Alliance, and the Ameritech Advisory Board for Minority Business Development. He also served on the Finance Council for St. Ann School and was a strong supporter of Catholic Education. Mr. Tom Smith was also well-known for his generous contributions to many worthwhile charities. Pre-deceased by his parents, Mr. Tom Smith is survived by his wife, Annette Ramonno Smith and their son, Thomas R. Smith Jr., and his grandchildren: Tessa Smith, Tommy Smith, Tyler Smith, Tarra & Rob Enochs, and great granddaughter, Miya Enochs. Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Shikany Funeral Home. A scripture service will begin at 7:30pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 5 at 11:00am at St Leo the Great Catholic Church, Bonita Springs, FL. A small reception will follow at Highland Woods Golf & Country Club for invited guests. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Leo Catholic Church, Educational Fund"
