Joseph Miller, 83, of Pembroke, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully at home March 31, 2012. Born in Boston, July 3, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert and Lulu (Oakland) Miller. He retired as a locksmith from the MBTA after 45 years, where he worked his way up through the ranks. Joseph also served during the Korean War as a corporal in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Gunning) Miller to whom he was especially devoted and dedicated. He was the loving father of his son, Joseph R. Miller of Pembroke; his grandchildren, Johnathan Miller of Texas, Angela Simpson of Texas, Megan and Nicholas Miller of Nevada; and five great-grandchildren. One of 15 children, Joseph is survived by his sister, Pauline Pheeney of Maryland and was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph, Robert, Lester, Frederick, William, James and Lawrence, and his sisters, Olive, Evelyn, Marion, Viola, Leola and Ruth. Joseph will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and a very special friend, Eileen Cash. Donations in Josephs memory may be made to South Shore Hospice and VNA, 100 Baystate Drive, Braintree, MA 02184. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., at the corner of Rte. 14 and 58, in Hanson, Monday, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Rte. 14, in Hanson. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
