"Joseph Miller Joseph A. Miller February 17, 1917 - September 19, 2012 On September 19th, 2012 an angel named Martha came to take Joe to his Eternal Home. Joe and Martha were married for 70 years prior to her passing in November 2010. He now joins her, their son Artie, and daughter Jean for a much awaited reunion. Joe and Martha are survived by their children Joan (Chuck), Jim, Judy (David - deceased), Jerry (Karen), Janet (Rex), Jack (Sherry), 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Joe was an active member of Knights of Columbus for 69 years. He held the officer positions of Faithful Navigator, Grand Knight and Historian. He served as a member of the Honor Guard for 50 years with 9 of these years as Captain. Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 74 years, having married Martha there in 1940. He was one of the founding fathers of the Assumption Abbey in Ava, MO. After working for Frisco Railways for 9 years, he owned a structural house moving business for 18 years, and finished his career as a residential building engineer for Evangel College. He served as Scout Master and worked with Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts for over 20 years. Joe was also a World War II Veteran. Joe was known for his ""story telling"" ability and never missed a chance to re-tell his favorite stories. It didn't matter if you had heard the story many times; he was going to tell it again so you knew you were going to hear it one more time! A prayer service will be held Friday September 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Hector Navolo-CMF, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens"
