John E. Donahue, 71, of Whiting died Wednesday at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Pemberton. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Spotswood before coming to Whiting. He was employed by United Crane in Kenilworth. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Community Reformed Church in Whiting. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jewel; two daughters, Daun Louche of Granite Bay, Calif., and Pam Trost of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one brother, James Donahue of Glen Gardner; one sister, Jean Gillette of Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at NCICFUL, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Ga. 30368-2454.
